Our Story
We didn't know solar would be big. But we knew it should be.
Back in 1999, there wasn't a strong demand for solar technology. Everyone was too busy trying to get a piece of that dotcom pie. But that's when Andrew McCalla founded the company then known as Meridian Energy Systems. It certainly wasn't a get-rich-quick scheme. But Andrew knew that clean energy was our future, because it had to be.
Truly an entrepreneurial venture, Andrew started Meridian in Austin in his grandmother's garage, specializing in renewable energy systems of the highest quality. The garage didn't hold the company for long — small residential projects in the beginning helped pave the path to larger commercial and public installations and soon Meridian became one of the most respected solar integrators in Texas.
Meridian has since become Meridian Solar to better reflect our specialized knowledge and skills in developing PV projects. After hundreds of installations over the last decade — including some of the largest in Texas and beyond — Meridian has evolved to become a leading solar EPC firm serving public, utility, and commercial clients.
